Mahi Mahi

Among the most beautiful fish in the ocean, mahi-mahi can instantly change color from cobalt blue to yellow gold. As they mature, the males are differentiated from the females and juveniles by their large, flat foreheads. These saltwater fish often form large schools, represented here by a small mahi-mahi school carved from quilted maple. Small abalone pieces are inlaid to mimic the fish’s freckles, and the fins are bronze with a blue-green patina. The eyes are bronze with a recessed abalone pupil, and the base is poplar.
