Lobsters

When lobsters migrate, they traverse the ocean floor in long, single-file lines. As they go, they observe their environment and communicate with each other through their antennae. In Lobsters, these “bugs” are forged, hammered, and welded of bronze sheet. They are anatomically accurate, as is their movement.
The rendering of their extended, exploring antennae and the articulation of their legs is the result of considerable observation and study. The stone base, with its texture suggestive of the sea floor, provided the initial inspiration for
this piece.
