Taking a closer look at a dragonfly found in our backyard reveals a marvel of engineering. The wings’ structure reveals a complex network of patterns, which allow them to be among the fastest insects. The wings in this sculpture are made out of steel. The body is made out of titanium, which has been forged and heat tempered to reveal a blue coloration. The legs and reeds are made of bronze. The base is made of purpleheart wood.
