Size: 17″ X 14″
Material: Driftwood, bronze, stainless steel, mahogany
Method: Hammered, forged, welded, carved
This sculpture had humble beginnings as a small piece of driftwood. When the wood was cut in half it revealed stunning patterning as well as a dark spot that resembled the “eye spots” on the wings of some moths. The lesson? Don’t judge a book by its cover… there may be a beautiful moth in there. The wings are carved and the body is welded bronze and stainless steel. The branch is made of steel and the base is mahogany.
